2022

It was announced over the weekend that Monday 8th May 2023 will be a Bank Holiday to mark the coronation of King Charles III, which will take place on Saturday 6th May.

This bank holiday will be in addition to the usual bank holiday Monday already scheduled for Monday, 1st May 2023.

Under the terms of the Licensing Act 2003, the Government may also announce a general extension to the trading hours for premises across England and Wales to mark the Special event; in Scotland, the individual Boards have a similar power. No announcements have yet been made in respect of extended hours; however, these may follow the ratification of the additional Bank Holiday.

If premises wish to extend their permitted hours or activities to mark the coronation beyond any standard extension that may or may not be given, applications for TENs (in England & Wales) or Extended Hours Applications (in Scotland) can be made by individual premises.

If you require further information or assistance with such applications, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
